10. The Others (2001)

A woman who lives in a darkened old house with her two photosensitive children becomes convinced that her family home is haunted. This movie won eight Goya Awards including awards for Best Film and Best Director.
This was the first English spoken film ever to receive the Best Film Award at the Goyas (Spain's national film awards), with not a single word of Spanish spoken in it.

9. The Wicker Man (1973)
A Notoriously troubled production notwithstanding, the controversial cult classic THE WICKER MAN is now regarded as a classic of British cinema, combining thriller, existential horror and musical genres, directed by Robin Hardy and written by Anthony Shaffer.
The Wicker Man is generally well regarded by critics and film enthusiasts. Film magazine Cinefantastique described it as "The Citizen Kane of Horror Movies", and during 2004 the magazine Total Film named The Wicker Man the sixth greatest British film of all time.

The film centers around the conflict between a team of paranormal investigators and the house in which they spent the night.

5. Evil Dead II Dead by Dawn (1987)
American cult comedy horror film. Ash's(Bruce Campbell) horrific night at the cursed cabin continues, as he faces off against more possessed beings, including his own hand. Several new visitors complicate matters as Ash squares off against the Evil Force itself, before being flung back in time to Medieval Europe for the events of Army of Darkness.

4. Shaun of the Dead (2004)
British horror comedy directed by Edgar Wright, starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, and written by Pegg and Wright. Pegg plays Shaun, a man attempting to get some kind of focus in his life as he deals with his girlfriend, his mother and stepfather. At the same time he has to cope with an apocalyptic uprising of zombies.
Shaun of the Dead has some great comical moments and yet it has been made with lots of professionalism like this was a serious gory horror movie they were making. This movie has won Saturn Award, IHG Award and many more.

3. Night of the Living Dead (1968)
In this classic yet still creepy horror film, strangers hold up in a rural Pennsylvania farmhouse and battle constant attacks from dead locals who have been brought back to life by mysterious radiation. A group of disparate people barricade themselves inside a farmhouse hoping to be rescued from these beings. This film won National Film Registry Award.

2. The Exorcist (1973)
Faithfully based on William Peter Blatty's 1971 best-selling novel of the same name, The Exorcist tells a story of a young girl (Linda Blair) who's possessed by demons. When the young girl is possessed by a mysterious entity, her mother seeks the help of two priests to save her daughter.
The film's creepy title tune, "Tubular Bells," became a #1 single on the Billboard charts, and The Exorcist went on to win two Oscar Awards (for Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Sound). Also won Golden Scroll, Golden Globe, Golden Screen, Golden Reel, Movie Masterpiece Awards.

1. Alien (1979)
'Alien' while technically science fiction is also one of the greatest horror/suspense movies ever made. The film's title refers to its primary antagonist: a highly aggressive extraterrestrial creature which stalks and kills the crew of a spaceship. The success of Alien spawned a media franchise of novels, comic books, video games, and toys, as well as three sequel and two prequel films. This movie has won Oscar. Another 11 wins & 18 nominations
